Each team is guaranteed 2 best-of-three matches per night, and games are scheduled in those three fixed time slots to ensure consistency. This format allows us to efficiently accommodate:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>4 teams at 7:00 PM<\/li>\n<li>4 teams at 9:00 PM<\/li>\n<li>Matches will be to be completed in their respective timeslot, eg. 7:10-8:05\u00a0PM. Should a match not be completed at the end of it\u2019s scheduled time, the set will be awarded to the team with the most points at the end of the timeslot. Should teams be tied in their set when this occurs, teams will play one more deciding point.<\/li>\n<li>At the end of the tiering period, the top two teams from Tier 1 remain in Tier 1, and the bottom two teams move down. The top two teams from Tier 2 move up to Tier 1, and the bottom two teams stay in Tier 2.<\/li>\n<li>Captains will be responsible for recording their scores before leaving for the night.<\/li>\n<li>Any matches not recorded will result in the match being labelled a tie.<\/li>\n<li>All matches will be self officiated, should teams disagree on the call of a given play, a reserve will be used.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><u>Rules<\/u><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>All Volleyball Canada Rules will apply unless otherwise stated<\/li>\n<li>Teams must have a minimum of 2 from each gender on the court at all times.<\/li>\n<li>Should a team wish to use a libero, 2 females must rotate through the front row.<\/li>\n<li>Teams may play with 5 players, in this format if a team has 3 males and 2 females,\u00a0 teams will rotate normally with three players in the front row. Should a team have 4\u00a0 males and 1 female, a \u201cghost\u201d player must be used. This player will rotate with the\u00a0 team, meaning when they should be in the front row the team will only be permitted 2 other players in the front row. When it&#8217;s the ghosts turn to serve the team with\u00a0 5 players will lose that point and the opponent will serve.<\/li>\n<li>Teams with 4 players will forfeit their match. Should this occur teams are permitted\u00a0 to play the match however any set wins will not be counted.<\/li>\n<li>Teams with 4 players present 15 minutes after the designated start time will forfeit the first set. 30 minutes after the designated start time a team with 4 players will forfeit the match.<\/li>\n<li>If a team starts a match with 5 or 6 players and an injury reduces the number of\u00a0 players to the forfeit threshold this team will be permitted to continue their match\u00a0 without forfeiting.<\/li>\n<li>Teams will not be required to have uniforms.<\/li>\n<li>The official Volleyball will be the Molten V5M5000, this ball shall be used unless\u00a0 both teams agree to use a different ball.<\/li>\n<li>All schedules and results will be posted online. The league organizer will attempt to\u00a0 place these results online ASAP however delays may occur.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><u>Low Intermediate<\/u><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Some structured training (e.g., youth leagues, school teams, rec leagues)<\/li>\n<li>Can perform basic skills (forearm pass, set, serve, hit) with moderate consistency<\/li>\n<li>Understands positions and rotations; able to participate in basic team strategies<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><u>Beginner (Tier 4)<\/u><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Players with little to no formal training<\/li>\n<li>Basic understanding of rules, limited consistency in passing, serving, or setting<\/li>\n<li>Plays mostly for fun and fitness, may have a basic level of understanding with positioning and team dynamics<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>League Format\u00a0\u00a0 Our Wednesday league runs from 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM, with game times at 7:00 PM and 9:00 PM.
